MOBILE REPAIR & MAINTENANCE
I offer mobile RV repair and service within a limited area of my location (see “Where’s Kevin”).
Is your Dealer’s repair lead time several weeks out? You have to take your RV to them? I am factory trained, with over 30 years RV experience, and I come to your RV.
I have recently become an Aqua-Hot Certified Mobile Technician.
I’m Truma Authorized Sales and Installation. Truma AquaGo is the best point of use endless hot water heater for RV’s and replaces most existing water heaters.
I’m an Authorized Forest River Mobile Technician, including warranty work.
I’m trained, and have the tools and kits to take fluid samples for laboratory analysis on all RV’s, tow vehicles, generators, and other engines or transmissions.
Proper RV Maintenance
Maintenance can prevent about 80% of problems from showing up later. Similar to a car, certain items need tuned-up, maintained, or replaced annually. Safety systems need to be checked to ensure they are working properly. DO NOT skimp on safety!
I can perform the above on your RV, and even teach you to do them! Here are a few:
Safety Systems are listed first for a reason, these include LP leak detectors (which last 5 years), smoke alarms, CO2 detectors, fire extinguishers (specific for your type of RV and which have a shelf-life and need proper pressure), and egress windows according to the latest RV fire codes. I can check and help you update all of those.
Water heater tanks need to have the anode rod checked and replaced, or the plastic drain plug replaced. The wiring & connections checked & cleaned, and the propane burner checked and cleaned and igniter gap set. The Temperature and Pressure regulator checked for proper operation, and the tank should be inspected inside with a scope for mineral build-up, then flushed once a year.
Black/Gray tanks need to be high-pressure cleaned periodically and the valve seals lubricated.
Freshwater storage tank needs to be sanitized at least once a year, or whenever the water tastes or smells funny.
Toilets need the seals lubricated periodically, and seals replaced if needed.
Air Conditioners need to be cleaned and checked periodically.
Furnaces need to be checked for cracks, cleaned, and tuned up roughly every 3 years.
Slides need to be lubricated frequently, and seals treated. (However, one type of slide-out mechanism is NOT supposed to be lubricated, just kept clean). Slides either need adjusted or motors synchronized to work properly. I can do this.
Roofs need to be cleaned annually, and the roof and all seals checked for cracks or holes and deterioration. Repair those areas with the proper product (by the way silicone should not be used on most roofs). Water leakage is the biggest enemy of an RV, and most leaks come from a neglected roof. Suspension needs to be lubricated frequently, and checked for broken or over-bent parts.
Tires need to be inspected frequently and replaced after about 7 years. I can tell you when they were made and look for potential problems unrelated to the tread.
Propane System needs to be checked for leaks and line cracks, and tested for proper pressure, which I can do. Propane cylinders need to be re-certified after 10 years, I can show you how old yours is.
Contact me for an estimate to do any of these by email or phone.
